NV02: Route 7
Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) to I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Project Purpose
The study focus is to assess operations and safety data in the study area and identify improvements that can be implemented in conjunction with the Route 7 widening proposed for bus rapid transit (BRT) from International Drive to I-495, with focus on the Route 7 transition section at International Drive. Targeted Route 7 improvements north of International Drive may be considered. The study will develop a cost-effective preliminary design concept that will accommodate the BRT alignment, as well as congestion, safety, and bicycle/pedestrian improvements, and a validated estimate to support a funding application. The BRT alignment segment along International Drive will not be part of this effort.
Survey
The survey regarding potential transportation safety, operations and bicycle/pedestrian improvements along Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and I-495 (the Capital Beltway) is complete.
