I-81 (Exit 17) to Bradley Street

Project Purpose

This study will address roadway and pedestrian safety, multimodal accessibility/connectivity (bicycle, pedestrian, and transit), and transportation demand management (TDM) needs along Alternate Route 58 (Cummings Street) from Bradley Street to the I-81 Exit 17 ramps. Study elements will include, but are not limited to, access management, turn lane improvements, traffic signal timing, intersection geometric improvements, and pedestrian improvements. The project recommendations that come from this study will be developed into funding applications for SMART SCALE Round 7.

Survey

The Phase 1 survey regarding current transportation needs on Alternate Route 58 (Cummings Street) from Bradley Street to the I-81 Exit 17 ramps was completed in June 2025. The study team will use the input obtained from the public to better focus on solutions and develop alternatives to address the identified needs.
