Project Purpose

The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety and operational issues and develop solutions along Route 642 (Bell Creek Road) from U.S. Route 360 (Mechanicsville Turnpike) to Cold Harbor Road. There were two (2) severe injury crashes on this segment between 2019 and 2024. This segment includes identified VTrans needs and four (4) Potential for Safety Improvement (PSI) locations.

Survey

The Phase 1 survey regarding current transportation needs on Route 642 (Bell Creek Road) from Route 360 (Mechanicsville Turnpike) to Cold Harbor Road was completed in May 2025. The study team will use the input obtained from the public to better focus on solutions and develop alternatives to address the identified needs.
